The Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion has an exemplary mobility profile based on its science and research institutes and industry, making it a driving force for regional and cross-border mobility projects. Karlsruhe chairs the Main Line for Europe initiative and is a pilot area for automated and connected driving. The Karlsruhe Model, which enables passengers to travel into and out of the city centre without having to change rail vehicles, is emulated worldwide. With the regiomove project, the region is pioneering the integration of car-sharing and bicycle hire schemes into regional public transport services. The partnership with the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and the regional training centre confirms the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion as a highly innovative mobility region.
